Kia ora e hoa,
Tuatahi, e mihi ana ki a koe. Firstly, thank you. Without people like you doing the work of being a community, we’re not really one at all - we’re just neighbours who happen to live in the same area.
Here’s what’s happening behind the scenes. This year the majority of our Shoebox Christmas projects are led by local schools and social services, not a centralised team. There’s a reason for that which we talked about more over here: Read more
Right now, schools and services are pulling together the details of the tamariki and whānau in their community. For many of them, this is their first year running Shoebox Christmas themselves. As you know, they’re already full on with their everyday mahi, and they’re moving as fast as they can.
Alongside them is our very small whānau of volunteers, helping each lead as they go. We’re fitting this in around our own whānau, work, and other community commitments - but like you, we’re keen to get every project open as soon as we can.
So if an area isn’t showing in the drop-down yet, it just means there’s no open project there right now. Keep checking back - new ones open as leads get set up.
Looking for a project that’s already full?
Some of our areas already have projects that have filled up. To see those too, untick the Show open projects only box when you’re searching. Full projects will then appear in the list.

Thank you for your patience and your manaakitanga - it takes a village, and you’re part of ours.
Nāu te rourou, nāku te rourou, ka ora ai te iwi.
